The Huntington Beach Community Garden (HBCG), was formed in March 2010, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization comprised solely of volunteers.
Our Mission Statement is to educate children and adults about organic gardening and to provide an area where individuals and families can grow fruit, vegetables, flowers and herbs for their own use and for local food banks.
We opened the garden with a ribbon cutting ceremony in March 2011 and are delighted to have celebrated many successful years of gardening and giving back to our community! Each summer season, June-September, our gardeners have donated over 1000 pounds of delicious organically grown fruits and vegetables to local non-profits…per year!
In order to accomplish part of HBCG’s mission, the gardeners are asked to pledged 10% of their yield (several have donated up to 40%) for donation to local charities. The HBCG Harvest Brigade Committee delivers donated fruits and vegetables to eager charities during the summer months.
Education is accomplished through “Organic Gardening” posts on this site, our facebook page (“like us” and “get notifications,” see upper right column), emails to our gardeners, and our education membership meetings. You are welcome to attend! See the calender (lower right column) for the next event.
The demand for garden plots continues to increase as Huntington Beach Community Garden’s familiarity, civic activity, charitable contributions and popularity grow…like weeds!
